150,000 Doses of Oral Antiviral 'Paxlovid' to Be Additionally Imported Tomorrow in Korea


[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 10th that an additional 150,000 doses of Pfizer's oral COVID-19 treatment, Paxlovid, will be introduced into the country on the 11th.


With this additional import, the total amount of Paxlovid introduced domestically will increase from the existing 474,000 doses to 624,000 doses.


As of the 9th, 188,000 doses of Paxlovid have been used domestically, and the stock is 286,000 doses.


Merck & Company (MSD)'s oral treatment Lagevrio has been imported in a total of 100,000 doses, and as of the 9th, 8,000 doses have been prescribed, leaving 92,000 doses remaining.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters stated, "We will sufficiently import oral treatments to ensure they can be used in a timely manner for patients in need."
