[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party directly criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which is pushing for the passage of the 'Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Rights' (Geomsu Wanbak) bill, saying, "The Democratic Party's reckless 'Geomsu Wanbak' rush without brakes is no different from 'legislative land grabbing.'"

On the 10th, Hur Eun-ah, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "What is so urgent and what is so fearful that the Democratic Party is shouting for Geomsu Wanbak?"

Spokesperson Hur criticized, "Due to the Democratic Party's reckless attempt at Geomsu Wanbak without brakes, the prosecutors are reportedly holding a nationwide meeting of chief prosecutors tomorrow," adding, "Moreover, the meeting is presided over by Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo, who was appointed amid personnel abuses to cover up the current administration's faults. This clearly reveals how groundless the arrogant and dogmatic Geomsu Wanbak pushed by the Democratic Party is, putting people's livelihoods on the back burner."

He continued, "Just a year ago, after adjusting the investigative rights between the police and prosecutors, they applauded saying 'all prosecutorial reforms have been achieved.' So what else remains to be done?" and added, "They used the seats won to care for people's livelihoods to seize control over the prosecution and judiciary, obstructed investigations into the administration, and continued their reckless behavior in the legislature with all sorts of tricks."

He pointed out, "President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol and the People Power Party already promised during the election campaign to expand the prosecution's investigative rights and were evaluated by the public accordingly. Yet, before the start of the term when veto power cannot be exercised, the Democratic Party's plan to use their majority to push for 'Geomsu Wanbak' is essentially 'legislative land grabbing.'" He warned, "If the Democratic Party betrays the solemn public sentiment expressed in the presidential election and pushes through 'Geomsu Wanbak,' they will face an even greater wave of public backlash."
