[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) announced the start of the 10th anniversary '2022 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival' by holding the '4·19 Democracy Road' and 'Pilgrimage Trekking with Captain Eom Hong-gil' events on the 9th.
The '4·19 Democracy Road' is a new family-oriented program introduced this year, with 20 teams and 72 participants taking part in a 1-night, 2-day event at the Uidong Family Camping Site.
On the first day, the main events were divided into '4·19 Pilgrimage Trekking' with 8 teams and 'Mountain Culture Experience' with 12 teams, held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
First, the trekking teams participated in the '4·19 Pilgrimage Trekking with Captain Eom Hong-gil' program.
The trekking program involved about 180 citizens walking approximately 4.2 km along the Bukhansan Pilgrimage Trail with mountaineer Captain Eom Hong-gil. This was linked with the launch ceremony of the '4·19 Democracy Road' and the '10th Youth Hope Expedition' on the same day.
Participants visited places imbued with the spirit of modern Korean history such as the Modern History Memorial Hall, 4·19 Observatory, and Bonghwang Pavilion, reflecting on the sacrifice and spirit of the patriotic martyrs and the 4·19 heroes.
The Mountain Culture Experience teams engaged in mountain activities, VR experiences, and sports climbing at the 'Uidong Mountain Culture Hub (H.U.B)' and the 'Black Yak Center (BAC Center)'.
After individual dinner time, the event continued with recreation, lectures on 4·19, and quizzes. From 9 p.m., singers 'Oneul Malgeum' and 'Ondo' performed music concerts, heating up the night at the Uidong Family Camping Site.
After spending the night at the camping site, on the 10th, participants enjoyed various family-friendly programs such as playing ddakji (Korean paper tile game), marbles (1960s experience), paper folding, and drawing the 4·19 emblem.
Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said at the event, "It is meaningful to convey the spirit of the 4·19 patriots to citizens through the 4·19 Democracy Road and pilgrimage trekking," adding, "Please continue to show great interest in the upcoming 4·19 Revolution National Cultural Festival."
