[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 11th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will receive the '2022 First Half Gender Sensitivity and Violence Prevention Integrated Training' with the mayoral team and executives at level 3 or higher at the multipurpose hall of Seoul City Hall.
Seoul City has been conducting special training to eradicate sexual harassment within the organization and raise awareness of gender equality. Since taking office, Mayor Oh completed the 'Gender Sensitivity and Sexual Harassment Prevention Special Training' in May last year and the 'Violence Prevention Integrated Training' in September. This year, the city is conducting integrated training combining gender sensitivity education and violence prevention education in the first half of the year.
For this training, lawyer Park Chan-sung, who serves as a human rights advisory committee member at Pohang University of Science and Technology, will lecture for about two hours on the theme of 'Creating a Gender-Equal Organizational Culture and the Role of Managers in Preventing Sexual Harassment and Others.' To prevent the spread of COVID-19, only a minimal number of people will attend on-site, while the remaining executives will participate via the video conferencing platform Zoom. Seoul City plans to broadcast the training live internally so that any employee can watch it.
Meanwhile, in October last year, Seoul City introduced a one-strike-out system for sexual misconduct offenders and strengthened personnel measures such as disadvantages in promotions, implementing the 'Strengthened Personnel Measures for Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence.' Starting this year, Seoul is the first local government nationwide to disclose the completion status of gender sensitivity and sexual violence prevention training for public officials at level 3 or higher on the city’s website for citizens to view.
