Wildfires Continue in Various Hills of Northern Gyeonggi… Some Being Extinguished Gyeonggi-do Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters


[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] On the 9th, wildfires broke out in several mountainous areas in northern Gyeonggi Province.


According to the Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a fire broke out around 1:47 PM in the mountainous area of Naegak-ri, Namyangju-si, and is currently being extinguished.


The authorities deployed 14 firefighting vehicles, including one firefighting helicopter, and over 50 personnel to combat the fire. Another fire is also being extinguished on the mid-slope of Cheolmasan in Jinbeol-ri.


Earlier, around 10:45 AM, a fire broke out in the mountainous area of Chogari, Pocheon-si, burning 4 hectares of forest land, and the major flames were brought under control after three hours.


Fires also occurred in the mountainous areas of Anheung-dong, Dongducheon-si; Goneung-ri, Yeoncheon-gun; Wolmun-ri, Namyangju-si; and Jugyo-dong, Goyang-si, all of which were extinguished within 1 to 2 hours.


A representative from the Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters urged, "Due to strong winds, even small sparks can lead to large wildfires, so please stop burning garbage and field edges, and hikers should be cautious of wildfires."
