[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 45th anniversary ceremony of Dongmyeong Cultural Academy was held on the 8th at Dongmyeong University.
In anticipation of the founding day on April 11, Dongmyeong University broadcast the commemorative event live on YouTube for about 76,000 domestic and overseas alumni.
Chairman Seo Ui-taek, Executive Director Lee Kwan-yi, Alumni Association President Kim Kwang-myeong (Busan City Council member), and AMP Alumni Association President Kim Yoon-soon attended the ceremony.
Also, National Assembly member and university alumnus Jeon Bong-min sent a congratulatory message.
In his commemorative speech, President Jeon Ho-hwan quoted the essay "Golden Box and Seeds," saying, “The establishment of the Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital on the Dongmyeong University campus, the creation of the College of Companion Animals, and the profit projects utilizing idle land are the seeds,” emphasizing, “Let us strive harder and evolve to stand tall as one of the top 10 small but strong universities nationwide in response to rapidly changing realities.”
President Jeon has been advocating the principles of Byeonjeoktonggu (變則通久, change leads to continuity) and Bulwihoseong (弗爲胡成, nothing can be achieved without action), emphasizing practice, experience, and challenge.
Approaching his first year in office, he stressed, “It is the hope of all Dongmyeong family members and founder Dr. Kang Seok-jin that we look back with smiles at a strong university built through the abilities and passion of all of us, including myself, on the 60th anniversary of the university’s founding 15 years from now.”
Dongmyeong Cultural Academy founder Kang Seok-jin (姜錫鎭, 1907?1984) was the founder of Dongmyeong Lumber Company, a local Busan enterprise that led South Korea’s export and economic development.
On this day, the school corporation presented the 45th anniversary awards and announced the list of recipients.
