Dismisses Possibility of Unification: "Never Considered It"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Former People Power Party Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won stated on the 8th that former President Park Geun-hye's declaration of support for lawyer Yoo Young-ha was "a personal emotional expression."
After the People Power Party's nomination committee interview for the June 1 local elections held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, Kim told reporters, "Former President Park feels quite sorry for lawyer Yoo," explaining his view. While 'Pro-Park' Kim and 'Park's heart' Yoo both declared their candidacy for Daegu mayor, former President Park appealed for support for Yoo through a YouTube video on the same day.
Regarding the possibility of unification, Kim drew a line, saying, "I have never considered it and do not feel the need." Some speculated that Kim and Yoo might unify to oppose lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo.
He also repeatedly emphasized that he is the right person to revive Daegu's economy. He said, "Compared to other candidates, I have accurately understood the current reality of Daegu and the direction it should take, and have prepared for a long time," adding, "I am the most suitable candidate to solve Daegu's various difficult situations."
Regarding lawmaker Hong, who is currently leading in approval ratings, Kim said, "Those who know Hong's true nature tend not to support him, while those less familiar tend to support him," expressing caution. He continued, "Compared to Hong, my support rate increases among the elderly, and I am working with the thought that once younger people get to know me better, they will quickly support me."
