[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] T'way Air announced on the 8th that it has newly introduced its second A330-300 aircraft.
The newly introduced aircraft has a total of 347 seats (12 business class and 335 economy seats) and will be deployed on the Gimpo-Jeju route starting from the 15th. This aircraft has a maximum flight range of over 10,000 km, making it capable of long-haul flights to destinations such as Australia, Eastern Europe, and the western region of North America.
Previously, the airline introduced its first A330-300 and has been operating six daily flights on the Gimpo-Jeju route since last month. It is the first domestic low-cost carrier to offer fully flat business class seats, and the economy seats are also operated with extra space. The company reported a load factor of about 90%.
With the introduction of the second large aircraft, the total fleet has increased to 29. When the third A330-300 of the same model is added in mid-next month, the fleet will increase to 30 aircraft. The company also announced plans to launch new international routes to Singapore, Hawaii, Sydney in Australia, and Eastern Europe, as well as continue its cargo transportation business.
Some routes that were suspended due to COVID-19 will also be partially resumed. From the end of this month, the Guam route will resume, and from next month, some Southeast Asian routes including Da Nang, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, and routes to Japan will be reinstated. At Daegu Airport, resumption of flights to Da Nang and Bangkok in May is also under consideration.
A T'way Air official said, "In line with the gradual recovery of daily life, we will continue steady recovery by resuming short-distance routes by the end of the year, expanding long-haul routes through the A330, and cargo transportation."
