[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] The Democratic Party of Korea congratulated Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the People Power Party, on his election as the new floor leader on the 8th and urged bipartisan cooperation.

Lee Su-jin, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, stated in a written briefing that day, "We congratulate Representative Kwon on his election as floor leader." She emphasized Kwon's role as the leader of the ruling party and added, "We hope he prioritizes bipartisan cooperation and national unity."

She also made remarks mindful of the controversy surrounding Kwon being labeled as a ‘Yun Hae-gwan (key figures close to Yoon Seok-yeol).’ Lee said, "The media evaluated this election as a contest between ‘Yun Hae-gwan’ and ‘non-Hae-gwan,’ but the National Assembly should become a ‘Min Hae-gwan (key figures close to public sentiment)’ that prioritizes public opinion." In this People Power Party floor leader election, Kwon, known as the ‘eldest brother of Yun Hae-gwan,’ faced off against Jo Hae-jin, a three-term lawmaker.

Lee emphasized, "We look forward to the swift achievements of the ‘Presidential Common Pledge Promotion Organization,’ which was proposed and agreed upon by Park Hong-geun, the Democratic Party floor leader," and added, "Let us create politics that prioritizes public sentiment and a National Assembly that reflects the people together."
