According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, firefighters from Changwon City Sinwol and Uichang Fire Stations, four fire trucks, an ambulance, and two firefighting helicopters from Gimhae and Yangsan were dispatched to the scene that day.
The Hangzhou Asian Games shooting national team selection competition was being held at Changwon International Shooting Range, but it was confirmed that no athletes were injured.
A firefighter who responded said, “There were many witness reports, so initial suppression was possible,” and “Because there was no wind, the fire did not spread extensively.”
One athlete participating in the selection competition said, “I was startled and scared when I saw the smoke, but I’m relieved that there was no major damage,” and “I think we will be able to continue the competition in the afternoon.”
The fire authorities believe the fire started in the farmland near the shooting range and plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
