On the night of the 7th (Korean time), at the Masters honorary tee-off event held at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA (par 72, 7,510 yards), controversy arose when he appeared wearing a shirt with the phrase ‘GOLF SAUDI’ and the Saudi Golf logo on the collar. American media unanimously pointed out that "Player appears to have a special relationship with Saudi Golf, which leads the Super Golf League (SGL) supported by the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund."

Saudi Golf has an uneasy relationship with the PGA Tour, which is trying to block the launch of the SGL.
