[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jang-an Cherry Blossom Road in Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has been dyed pink with cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms are expected to reach their peak this weekend.

Accordingly, the district will install and operate various photo zones and night lighting facilities along the Jungnangcheon Jang-an Cherry Blossom Road (approximately 5 km section from Gunja Bridge to Ihwa Bridge) until the 17th.

The 2022 Spring Flower Festival was canceled to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Along the cherry blossom-filled walking path, a total of 14 photo zones featuring flowers, rabbits, moon models, and other elements harmonizing with the spring flowers are operated, and title photo zones using the phrase ‘Jang-an Cherry Blossom Road’ have been installed throughout the walking path.

From sunset until 11 p.m., various colored nightscape lights are illuminated, and an outdoor gallery exhibiting 60 works by local photography clubs under the theme ‘Spring Comes to Me’ has been created in the section from Jangpyeong Bridge to Jang-an Bridge, enriching the viewing experience.

In addition, to ease the disappointment of residents due to the festival cancellation, the district plans to capture the spring flower scenes on video and release them on the Dongdaemun-gu Office YouTube channel so that people can enjoy the spring flower scenery from home.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Although the festival was canceled, we installed photo zones and night lighting so that residents can leisurely stroll along Jungnangcheon and enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms,” adding, “I hope the residents, exhausted from COVID-19, can fully enjoy the energy of spring by seeing the fully bloomed cherry blossoms.”

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, visited the Bulkwangcheon Cherry Blossom Road on the morning of the 7th to conduct an on-site inspection in celebration of the ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ event week, which runs until the 9th.

On that day, Mayor Kim Mi-kyung visited the ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ event site set up at Bulkwangcheon to check the quarantine operation status and on-site conditions, encouraged the staff on duty, and urged thorough quarantine measures.

Mayor Kim said, “We will do our utmost to protect the safety of residents and ensure they can enjoy the ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ event along the Bulkwangcheon Cherry Blossom Road in various ways.”

The ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ event features media facades and LED landscape lighting installed along the Bulkwangcheon Cherry Blossom Road, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms in more diverse ways.
