[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Men in their 20s who entered the abandoned Namcheon Yusu Pool site in Suyeong-gu, Busan, which closed in 2005, to experience a haunted house were caught by the police.
According to the Busan Police Agency on the 7th, five people including Mr. A trespassed without permission at around 2 a.m. on the 17th at the old Yusu Pool site in Namcheon-dong, Suyeong-gu, and filmed videos.
The police responded to a report that a haunted house experience video had been uploaded on a social media platform and apprehended Mr. A and others at the scene.
During the investigation, Mr. A stated, "I trespassed through the collapsed wall to upload haunted house experience content on mobile social media."
The police have booked and are investigating those who entered the restricted building without permission on charges of trespassing.
However, since the actual damage is not significant and no victim investigation has been conducted, it is known that the decision on whether to send the case to the prosecution has not yet been made.
If the trespassing charges against Mr. A and others are confirmed, they face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 5 million won.
A representative from the Nambu Police Station said, "Since they trespassed into a place where entry was prohibited and a control line was installed, the charge of trespassing is valid," and added, "Because no victim investigation has been conducted yet and the damage is not significant, there is a possibility that the case will be closed without being sent to the prosecution."
The Namcheon Yusu Pool has been unmanaged and left as an eyesore facility in the area since its closure in 2005.
Nearby residents have urged measures, citing aesthetic damage and safety risks such as wall collapse, but the owner has taken no action, claiming that the Yusu Pool site is included in the nearby reconstruction apartment project.
This place was also the site where a wanted person was caught hiding by the police in 2019, and multiple 112 emergency calls have been made in a single year, turning it into a place threatening local public safety.
