[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] As Democratic Party lawmakers have started the wheelchair commuting challenge to urge the guarantee of mobility rights for people with disabilities, on the 6th, former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeok criticized, "During the five years of the Moon Jae-in administration, they only put on a 'show' while neglecting 'work'."

On the same day, former lawmaker Jeon posted on her Facebook, addressing Democratic Party lawmaker Ko Min-jung, saying, "'The last show' or 'final show' was performed."

She said, "(Lawmaker Ko) commuted to the National Assembly in a wheelchair to personally experience the mobility rights of people with disabilities," adding, "She posted meticulously on SNS, saying her arms ache. But wasn't it the 'Moon Jae-in administration'? What exactly did they do for five years?"

She continued, "The Moon Jae-in administration did nothing for people with disabilities. Shouldn't lawmaker Ko first protest to the Blue House?" and sarcastically added, "Today as well, 'Ko Min-jung who does not think' spent her salary like this, going all-in on the 'show'."

She also said, "Even if the aides who take photos and work hard from morning are excused, these days most people with disabilities use 'electric wheelchairs,'" adding, "'For the show,' you must have used a manual wheelchair instead of an electric one, right? Your 'dark history' is ongoing."

Earlier, Democratic Party lawmakers have been conducting the 'wheelchair commuting challenge' from this day to strengthen the guarantee of mobility rights for people with disabilities. About 10 Democratic Party lawmakers, including Ko Min-jung, Kim Ju-young, Kim Tae-nyeon, Shin Hyun-young, Yoo Jeong-ju, Lee Dong-joo, Lee Yong-bin, Jeon Yong-gi, and Jin Sung-jun, participated. They shared videos and photos on social networking services (SNS) showing themselves taking subways or buses while using wheelchairs.

In particular, lawmaker Jin Sung-jun fell backward while commuting in a wheelchair. Jin said on Facebook, "I personally experienced and realized how much inconvenience people with disabilities face in daily mobility," adding, "I could not easily get over even a small curb, and I even fell backward on a very gentle slope."

He also stated, "I will work hard to ensure the proper passage of the ▲Act on Support for Deinstitutionalization of Persons with Disabilities ▲Act on Guarantee of Rights of Persons with Disabilities ▲Act on Promotion of Convenience in Mobility for Transportation Vulnerable Persons ▲Act on Lifelong Education for Persons with Disabilities."
