[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] On the 6th (local time), U.S. President Joe Biden classified the alleged massacre of civilians by Russian troops in Bucha, Ukraine, as a "serious war crime" and expressed his intention to hold Russia accountable.

President Biden attended a speech at the North America Construction Workers Union event held in Washington DC that day and said, "(In Bucha) civilians were brutally executed. Bodies were dumped in massive graves. There is nothing worse than such a serious war crime." He raised the level of criticism by defining the Bucha massacre allegations as war crimes and referring to them as serious war crimes on this occasion.

He stated, "Responsible countries must come together to hold these perpetrators accountable," suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin could be brought to a war crimes trial. The U.S. and other Western countries have begun collecting evidence of the Bucha massacre in cooperation with the United Nations.

President Biden said the newly announced additional sanctions against Russia would have a severe impact on the Russian economy.

On the same day, the U.S. imposed additional sanctions banning new investments in Russia and completely blocking Sberbank, Russia's largest state-owned bank, and Alfa Bank, Russia's largest private bank, from the U.S. financial system. Putin's two daughters, key aides, and their families were also added to the sanctions list.
