38 Students Residing in Seolcheon-myeon Samgong and Simgok-ri, Mupung-myeon Samgeori
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju-gun announced on the 6th that it has started operating a school bus for students in transportation-disadvantaged areas of Seolcheon-myeon and Mupung-myeon.
The target students are 38 middle and high school students (30 middle school students, 8 high school students) residing in Samgong-ri and Simgok-ri of Seolcheon-myeon, and Samgeori of Mupung-myeon.
One 44-seat large bus departs from Samgeori, Mupung-myeon at 7:40 a.m. according to the students' school start time, passing through Samgong-ri and Simgok-ri of Seolcheon-myeon, and is designed to arrive at Seolcheon Middle and High School by 8:20 a.m.
The operation of the large bus is expected to provide a convenient and safe means of transportation along with the existing return school taxi service.
Muju-gun started operating the school bus by investing 230 million KRW in cooperation with Jeollabuk-do and Jeonbuk Office of Education, based on Article 23 of the "Special Act on Improving the Quality of Life of Farmers and Fishermen and Promoting Development of Farming and Fishing Villages."
Meanwhile, Muju-gun has been operating school taxis for transportation-vulnerable students (those using remote routes and night study users) since 2000, and this year, it is investing 230 million KRW to assist the after-school transportation of 99 students in 6 eup and myeon areas.
