During the memorial week from the 8th to the 16th, official documents will include the phrase "Sewol Ferry Victims Memorial Week" at the top, and a portion of the memorial song "Truth Does Not Remain Silent" will be set as the phone ringtone.
The Office of Education has also been exhibiting memorial artworks in the main office lobby from the 5th to the 30th.
They are displaying 13 paintings by artists affiliated with the Ulsan National Artists Association and the "Tree of Memory and Peace: Sewol Sotdae," which is made by attaching 304 sotdae poles completed with the participation of 304 citizens.
Some of the memorial artworks will be sent to the 4.16 Memory Storage in Ansan after the exhibition ends on the 30th.
A large banner with the phrase "We miss you who left like spring flowers today as well" is hung on the outer wall of the main office building to encourage Ulsan citizens to join in the commemoration of the 8th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
On the 15th, one day before the 8th anniversary, a memorial moment of silence will be held at 10 a.m.
All institutions and schools will conduct this voluntarily. Superintendent Noh Ok-hee will observe a moment of silence to commemorate the victims in the main office lobby and then visit the memorial exhibition space to view the exhibits.
Schools will autonomously conduct safety education and memorial education related to the Sewol Ferry victims as part of the curriculum until the 30th.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "On the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster, we are conducting memorial and safety culture events with hearts of memory and peace," adding, "We will always remember and strive to create a safe society for our children."
