[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Dong-A Socio Holdings announced on the 6th that it held an opening ceremony for the recycling station 'Earth Bag' on the 5th at the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements yard in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
This event was organized as part of last year's 'Earth Recovery Resource Circulation Campaign' conducted by Dong-A Socio Holdings to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and encourage practical actions in daily life, ultimately aiming to create a sustainable environment. On the opening day, the 5th, an event was held to commemorate Arbor Day, where visitors who brought three or more clean plastic wastes could exchange them for succulents. The opening ceremony was attended by Jeong Jae-hoon, Vice President of Dong-A Socio Holdings, and Kim Chun-i, Secretary General of the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, among others.
Earth Bag is the first 100% recycled recycling station installed by Dong-A Socio Holdings and the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements. The name Earth Bag, which won first place in a naming contest held by the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, means 'to restore the Earth's environment cleanly.' Earth Bag is designed not just as a space for separating waste but as a space that creates social value. When waste is separated and disposed of at Earth Bag, users receive points that can be used like cash at the Eco Cooperative Jongno branch equivalent to the amount of waste discarded. Additionally, through an application, users can directly check the recycling distribution path of the waste and the amount of carbon emission reduction achieved, contributing to the spread of resource circulation awareness among residents. Earth Bag is open every Wednesday from 2 PM to 5 PM and is planned to operate until the end of this year.
A Dong-A Socio Holdings official said, “Starting with the Earth Bag in Jongno-gu, we plan to install recycling stations in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, this year,” adding, “Through continuous establishment of recycling stations, we will strive to raise awareness of environmental issues and recycling and to establish a proper culture of waste separation and disposal.”
