Focus on Improving Local Living Environment and Community-Based SOC Projects
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Muju County announced on the 6th that the 2022 supplementary budget was finalized at 486.6 billion KRW, an increase of 23 billion KRW compared to the original budget.
The budget, confirmed through the county council's resolution, focused on revitalizing the local economy amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, resolving residents' inconveniences, and smoothly completing major projects of the 7th local government administration.
Specifically, 1.7 billion KRW was allocated to urgent COVID-19 support projects to strengthen the welfare safety net, and 1.4 billion KRW was invested in projects such as support for damages caused by the release from Yongdam Dam to help affected residents quickly return to normal life.
Additionally, 3.9 billion KRW was budgeted for local living environment improvement projects such as the distribution of small LPG storage tanks, 400 million KRW for job creation and youth support projects, 4.4 billion KRW for resident safety and community-based SOC projects including the creation of Hyangrosan Forest Welfare Complex and the reconstruction of Janggi Bridge, and 2.6 billion KRW for local living environment improvement projects such as the Muju-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal project.
Meanwhile, Muju County's fiscal scale based on the original budget is 463.6 billion KRW, showing an average growth rate of 11.2% over the past four years. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Local Finance Integrated Disclosure System, this is the highest figure among similar local government entities in Jeonbuk with comparable population and fiscal standards.
Local allocation tax also increased by 15.0%, showing the highest growth rate among similar local government entities.
National and provincial subsidies increased by 13.8%, ranking Muju County second among similar entities, significantly contributing to the increase in fiscal scale.
