[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 6th that it will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into this year's big data-based 'Risk Road Forecast System' to prevent traffic accidents.
The Risk Road Forecast System is a traffic accident risk prediction system established by the Authority. It analyzes big data such as traffic accident information and displays road risk levels in four grades: Safe, Risk, Caution, and Severe. It also provides real-time weather information, unexpected event information (such as rallies and accidents), and road risk levels along driving routes.
The Authority plans to apply an AI model that selects sections with high traffic accident risk as 'Concentrated Risk Sections' and provides real-time risk prediction information, as well as 'Human Attention Information' and 'Road Environment Attention Information' for safe driving in those sections. Through this, the Authority expects to further enhance the utilization of facility improvements in high-risk traffic accident areas and road safety projects.
