[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk said at a book talk for his newly released book 'Advanced Country on Credit' on the 5th, "Not only myself but my entire family is in a state of trial and hardship."

At the book talk uploaded on the YouTube channel of the publisher Medici Media, Cho said, "I feel like I am still in a tunnel, with a knife at my throat and shackles on my feet," and explained, "You could say I wrote this book to forget such pain."

He criticized President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's pledge to abolish the investigative authority of the Minister of Justice, calling it "an unprecedented attempt in the history of the Republic of Korea," and said, "It seems like an attempt to go beyond a prosecution republic and create a prosecution kingdom."

Reflecting on the timing of personnel screening before Yoon became Prosecutor General, he said, "Among the candidates for Prosecutor General, Yoon Seok-yeol was the most actively expressing his intention for prosecutorial reform," adding, "It seems no one really knew what Prosecutor Yoon's true intentions were at that time."

The approximately 1 hour and 20 minute-long book talk was recorded on the 23rd of last month at the Medici Media headquarters studio, just before the publication of 'Advanced Country on Credit'.
