[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters conducted Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training on the 4th.

There were fatal accidents involving firefighters trapped during the warehouse fire in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province in June last year and the fire at the new construction site of the Pyeongtaek logistics center in January this year.

Eighty-four fire rescue personnel gathered at the Gyeongnam Fire Training Center in Uiryeong-gun to protect the lives of their colleagues at various disaster sites and to create a safe firefighting environment.

We Are Firefighters Saving Firefighters... Gyeongnam Fire Department Begins Rapid Peer Rescue Team Training The Rapid Peer Rescue Team of the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters is conducting rescue training using equipment such as ladders.

The training included personal self-escape using firefighting equipment such as hoses, axes, and ladders, team emergency escape, and colleague rescue to improve firefighters' rapid rescue, escape, and response capabilities in times of crisis.

Special rescue team members from the Fire Headquarters demonstrated the procedures firsthand and shared the content with rescue personnel from all fire stations across Gyeongnam.

An official from the headquarters said, “Instead of training based on uniform life-saving scenarios, we developed training plans improved by reflecting the characteristics and experiences of the Gyeongnam region. We have made long-term efforts to create rescue tactical techniques unique to Gyeongnam Fire.”

Kwon Seonghwan, head of the 119 Special Rescue Unit, said, “Through this training, we have been able to more firmly secure the safety of firefighters working on site,” and added, “We will do our best to protect the precious lives of the residents based on safe firefighting activities.”
