[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Yoo Young-ha, a close aide of former President Park Geun-hye, revealed that there was "one unofficial contact between President Park and President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol after March 24."

Yoo appeared on YTN Radio's 'Issue & People' on the 4th and made this statement. Yoo was the only person allowed to visit former President Park during her imprisonment and has declared his candidacy for Daegu mayor in the upcoming June 1 local elections.

He said, "On March 24, the day the President returned to her private residence, Seo Il-jun, the administrative officer of the Presidential Transition Committee, came. Since then, there has been no official contact, but there was one unofficial contact. We had a conversation there," adding, "So I believe that it won't take too long before some discussions take place."

Regarding the possibility of former President Park's political comeback, Yoo stated, "I have firmly said that the former President will never directly participate in practical politics, such as founding a party or forming a political force." However, he added, "But as a former President and elder statesperson, if there is a way to contribute by passing on the wisdom and experience she holds to the younger generation for the development of the Republic of Korea, she will do so. That was the President's wording, and it should be interpreted as such."

About President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, Yoo said, "Personally, he is a senior in the prosecution, and privately, I called him my brother." He continued, "In any case, the President is a position for national unity, a position to present a vision, and a position that embraces the opposition. I believe he will do well." He also said, "I think the public should generously understand and give some time even if there are some initial mistakes. That is how I see it."
