[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao's live commerce platform, Kakao Shopping Live, is enhancing its expertise in live commerce by appointing exclusive hosts.
On the 4th, Kakao Shopping Live announced that it has signed exclusive appearance contracts with five live commerce hosts active in various commerce and content fields, including influencers, creators, and show hosts.
The exclusive hosts are ▲ broadcaster Bae Hyeji ▲ show host Oh Minhwa ▲ beauty influencer Damsseu ▲ YouTuber Lee Sia ▲ host Kim Juseung, who will serve as the main hosts for live commerce productions on Kakao Shopping Live for about one year.
These hosts have been conducting live commerce in their respective specialties such as beauty, fashion, living, food, electronics, and kids on Kakao Shopping Live, receiving high praise not only from customers but also from brands for their excellent hosting skills and friendly communication.
Kakao Shopping Live plans to maintain high-quality content and strengthen customer-oriented PGM (broadcast programs) by collaborating with the exclusive hosts. The hosts will go beyond the role of sellers to conduct live commerce focused on product reviews and curation, aiming to expand positive customer experiences with Kakao Shopping Live.
Since November 2021, Kakao Shopping Live has launched its first PGM broadcasts such as 'One Day Only Hyeji' (hosted by Bae Hyeji), 'Happy Goods Day' (goods PGM/hosted by Kim Juseung and Junittutella), and 'Oh Unni’s How About This?' (hosted by Oh Minhwa). Going forward, it plans to introduce various content, including continuous series led by exclusive hosts.
Additionally, the exclusive hosts will participate in various marketing and service promotions by leveraging their unique strengths and characters. Kakao Shopping Live also plans to introduce influencer markets and short-form content by exclusive hosts in the future.
Meanwhile, Kakao plans to expand the service in the second half of this year to enable more partners to utilize Kakao Shopping Live. First, it will introduce open live broadcasts so that all commerce-related partners of Kakao, including brands, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as gift and shopping services, can create customer touchpoints through Kakao Shopping Live.
Along with providing an open platform, Kakao is preparing to support a ‘live commerce total solution’ including educational programs for partners and small business owners, and studio rentals.
A Kakao Shopping Live official said, “We selected the first exclusive hosts of Kakao Shopping Live focusing not only on broadcasting skills but also on communication with customers and sincerity. In the future, we will continue to recruit partner hosts and experts who fit the content direction of Kakao Shopping Live in addition to the exclusive hosts.”
