On 'Deputy Prime Minister for Economy' Appointment Question: "Will Discuss with Prime Minister Candidate and Inform Without Delay"
President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol is answering reporters' questions after announcing the nomination of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo as the new Prime Minister at the Presidential Transition Committee press conference in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 3rd.

President-elect Yoon plans to announce appointments including the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy after discussions with Prime Minister candidate Han.
On the 3rd, at a press conference held by the transition committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, President-elect Yoon stated, "I will announce the new government’s Prime Minister candidate," adding, "The candidate to lead the cabinet is former Prime Minister Han Deok-su."
He continued, "Former Prime Minister Han is recognized for his capabilities regardless of political affiliation and has extensive experience in key government positions," explaining, "He is the right person to oversee and coordinate the cabinet and carry out government tasks based on his rich experience spanning both public and private sectors." Former Prime Minister Han has served as Presidential Chief of Economic Affairs, Minister for Government Policy Coordination, Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, and Prime Minister.
President-elect Yoon also emphasized, "The new government must lay the foundation for the economic leap forward amid severe domestic and international circumstances and thoroughly prepare for the era of economic security where economy and security are united," adding, "We will heed the will of the people and ensure a government that works well, taking meticulous care of livelihoods, diplomacy, and security."
After the press conference, when asked by reporters about the introduction of a 'responsible minister system,' President-elect Yoon replied, "The government is a structure where the president, prime minister, ministers, and vice ministers work together and take responsibility," adding, "Ultimately, the president is responsible. However, I believe that the opinions of those working closest should be most respected, and I think Prime Minister candidate Han and I share this view."
Regarding the announcement of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, President-elect Yoon said, "I will discuss further with the Prime Minister candidate and inform the public without much delay."
