5·18 Minju Cemetery Management Office Conducts Large Mural Painting with Student Talent Donation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office (Director Kim Beomtae) announced on the 3rd that it conducted a 200-meter-long large mural painting to welcome spring.

This mural painting event was carried out through the talent donation of about 150 middle and high school students majoring in art in the Gwangju area.

Youth participated to paint various images symbolizing Gwangju and the 5·18, such as the Memorial Tower, the Gate of Democracy, cemetery visits, Mudeungsan Mountain, and the Taegeukgi flag on the wall between the 'Gate of History and Sungmoru.'

An official from the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office said, “We hope this meaningful opportunity allowed students to reinterpret the meaning and value of 5·18 through mural creation,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various cultural events and exhibitions to cultivate the national cemetery as a more familiar and beautiful democratic sacred site.”
