Seocho-gu, Moving and Home Cleaning Services for Single-Person Households

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho 1-Person Household Support Center announced that it will officially launch the ‘Single Express’ and ‘Single Home Cleaning’ services from the 4th to alleviate the concerns of single-person households struggling with housing costs and household chores.

This project is a service that supports moving and cleaning for single-person households. The center conducted a pilot operation of this project for three months starting in October last year, receiving great response from single-person households.

‘Single Express’ is a service that provides a free 1.5-ton moving vehicle or move-in cleaning for single-person households who move frequently. Eligible recipients can choose and receive support for one of these services.

The support target is single-person households in Seocho-gu living in multi-family or row houses with monthly rent under 150% of the median income. Support is available for those moving to Seocho-gu from any of the 24 autonomous districts of Seoul or moving within Seocho-gu. However, if the moving vehicle exceeds 1.5 tons or the move-in cleaning exceeds 15 pyeong, additional costs must be borne by the recipient.

‘Single Home Cleaning’ is a service that helps single-person households who have difficulty cleaning due to accidents or illness. The center provides points that allow the use of housekeeping services for 3 hours and 30 minutes per session based on 19 pyeong through a cleaning-related app designated by the center.

The support target is single-person households under 50 years old in Seocho-gu with income below 150% of the median income. Support is available upon submission of a service application reason statement or related documents such as illness proof. Additional costs apply if the area exceeds 19 pyeong.

In addition, the center supports minor repair and maintenance costs for single-person households that are difficult to resolve alone. This support ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 KRW annually per household based on health insurance premium payments, helping with small but sudden daily life difficulties such as replacing light bulbs and door locks or repairing window screens.

Furthermore, the center is promoting the COVID-19 Safety Project ‘1 Geo 3 Deuk’ which provides three types of support?Safe Check-in Service, Safe 5-Kit, and Safe Meal?for single-person households undergoing COVID-19 home treatment to alleviate their anxiety. For detailed inquiries about single-person household services, contact the Seocho 1-Person Household Support Center.

A district official said, “With this support, we aim to reduce the housing cost burden for single-person households who move frequently during the spring moving season and provide various customized services specialized for single-person households to help stabilize their living.”
