Jindo-gun Completes Renovation of Sochi Family's Five Generations Art Museums

[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] The Sochi Memorial Hall and other facilities at Unlim Sanbang in Jindo, Jeollanam-do, have completed renovations and reopened on the 30th.

Unlim Sanbang in Jindo is a sacred place and cradle of Namjonghwa (Southern School painting), where the great master Sochi Heo Ryeon and his direct five generations of descendants have continued the lineage of Namjonghwa.

The Sochi Memorial Hall inside Unlim Sanbang has been renamed Sochi Hall 1 and now serves as a specialized Sochi exhibition space, displaying about 40 works by Sochi alone, and has installed immersive content featuring documentaries about the Sochi family.

The Jindo History Museum has been renamed Sochi Hall 2, exhibiting about 100 works by descendants from the 2nd to the 5th generation of Sochi, and has created a hologram and photo zone set against a bamboo garden background.

Additionally, the immersive room prepared in Sochi Hall 2 presents Sochi’s works as media art and is an experiential space where the artworks change according to visitors’ movements, attracting significant attention.

In particular, with cutting-edge technology and the latest content, it provides a blend of real and virtual spaces, offering attractive experiences and entertainment, and it is expected that Unlim Sanbang will be recognized by tourists as the root and cradle of Namjonghwa and the studio imbued with Sochi’s artistic spirit.
