[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Josel Gina] American Hollywood action star Bruce Willis (67) has announced his retirement due to aphasia.


Willis's family stated in a statement released on social media (SNS) on the 30th (local time), "Bruce has been experiencing health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia," adding, "It is affecting his cognitive abilities."


They said, "This is a really difficult time for our family, but we are grateful for the continuous love and support," and "We are sharing this news because we know how much Bruce means to everyone." They added, "As Bruce always said, 'Enjoy life,' and we plan to do so together."


Born in 1955, Bruce Willis gained fame in the 1980s with the TV drama Blue Moon Express (original title Moonlighting), and later appeared in films such as Die Hard and Armageddon, earning worldwide love. He has won Golden Globe and Emmy Awards and was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
