[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Kwon Deok-cheol, Minister of Health and Welfare, reported assets worth over 1.8 billion KRW. Cha Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, holds assets exceeding 18.1 billion KRW, ranking first among all heads of public-related organizations.
According to the "2022 Regular Asset Change Report" disclosed on the 31st by the Government Ethics Committee through the official gazette, Minister Kwon's assets held under his and his family's names total 1.801 billion KRW, ranking seventh among 19 cabinet members.
Minister Kwon reported a detached house in Yangyang, Gangwon Province under his spouse's name (290 million KRW), a commercial building in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (280 million KRW), a jeonse right on an apartment in Irwon-dong, Gangnam-gu (700 million KRW), and an apartment in Namwon-si, Jeonbuk under his mother's name, totaling 1.343 billion KRW. Additionally, he disclosed deposits of 882.35 million KRW and two cars worth 16.67 million KRW owned by himself and his family. His debts amount to 402.31 million KRW.
Yang Seong-il, First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, reported assets of 1.287 billion KRW, an increase of 201.87 million KRW from last year. The price of an apartment in Bundang, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province rose by 128 million KRW compared to last year, and deposits and insurance under his and his family's names amounted to 263.88 million KRW.
Ryu Geun-hyeok, Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, reported assets of 1.273 billion KRW, an increase of 146.92 million KRW. He owns an apartment in Singil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul jointly with his spouse (690 million KRW), a multi-family house under his father's name (235 million KRW), and a jeonse right on an officetel for his child (143.33 million KRW). Deposits under his and his family's names total 276.19 million KRW.
Among heads of public institutions under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the wealthiest is Cha Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, with total assets reaching 18.15992 billion KRW. He ranks second in total assets among public officials subject to asset disclosure and first among heads of public-related organizations. He owns land in Mangpo-dong, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi Province (4.21808 billion KRW), buildings under his and his spouse's names including an apartment in Cheongju-si, Chungbuk, and a commercial building in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul (2.15957 billion KRW), and deposits of 6.6944 billion KRW. Chairman Cha's assets increased by 1.976 billion KRW over the year due to the sale of securities related to his and his spouse's duties.
Han Gwang-hyeop, President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, reported assets totaling 11.99233 billion KRW, including an apartment in Hangang-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul under his and his spouse's names (2.882 billion KRW) and deposits under family names amounting to 8.38816 billion KRW. Kwon Soon-man, President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, also reported assets totaling 9.12411 billion KRW, including an apartment in Bangbae 3-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul under his name (1.4 billion KRW), an apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul under his spouse's name (1.582 billion KRW), a commercial building in Bangbae-dong under his spouse's name (510 million KRW), deposits under his and his spouse's names (4.64023 billion KRW), and stocks (751.62 million KRW). Presidents Han and Kwon ranked sixth and ninth respectively among heads of public-related organizations.
Kim Yong-jin, Chairman of the National Pension Service, reported assets of 339.95 million KRW, an increase of 34.85 million KRW from last year, and Kim Seon-min, President of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, reported assets of 1.58324 billion KRW, an increase of 369.29 million KRW.
Kim Kang-rip, Commissioner of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, reported assets totaling 1.88079 billion KRW, including an apartment in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi Province owned by himself (821 million KRW) and deposits under his and his family's names (609.13 million KRW). The price of an apartment in Jangan-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul under his father's name increased, and his reported assets rose by 392.26 million KRW compared to last year due to salary income from himself and his children.
Jung Eun-kyung, Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, reported assets of 4.19283 billion KRW, an increase of 458.75 million KRW from last year. The publicly announced price of an apartment in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul jointly owned by Commissioner Jung and her spouse rose by 278.01 million KRW, and the total includes 2.12384 billion KRW in earned income savings from herself and her family.
Kwon Jun-wook, Director of the National Institute of Health, reported assets of 2.56911 billion KRW, an increase of 327 million KRW from last year. The price of an apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul jointly owned with his spouse rose by 394.04 million KRW, increasing his assets.
