[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeonnam Yeonggwang-gun announced on the 30th that it has designated the period until the 17th of next month as the ‘Special Measures Period for Large-scale Forest Fire Prevention’ and conducted a ‘Forest Fire Prevention Campaign.’
This campaign was carried out to prevent forest fires from occurring, as recently, large and small forest fires have occurred across the country, and due to the dry spring weather and wind, they can quickly spread into large-scale fires.
The county formed teams of 10 to 15 people, including forest fire prevention and suppression specialists, forestry officials, and members of the Forests of Jeonnam Association, totaling about 100 people, at the entrances of major hiking trails such as Bulgapsan, Gususan, and Mulmusan, conducting promotional activities such as ‘Prohibition of carrying flammable materials,’ ‘Prohibition of burning field edges,’ and ‘Prohibition of burning agricultural residues.’
Additionally, the county is operating a Forest Fire Prevention Countermeasures Headquarters until May 15.
A county official said, “We will continue to conduct ongoing forest fire prevention campaigns to raise awareness of the damage to life and property caused by forest fires and protect valuable forest resources to create healthy forests.”
