[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will volunteer at a free meal service after meeting Archbishop Jeong Soon-taek on the 30th.
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the president-elect, stated at the press room of the Presidential Transition Committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, in the morning, "Archbishop Jeong asked to gather the scattered voices of the people as a congratulatory message, and President-elect Yoon is taking it to heart and remembering it."
Earlier, in February, President-elect Yoon visited the Seoul Archdiocese of the Catholic Church located in Myeongdong, Seoul, and met Archbishop Jeong.
After having tea with Archbishop Jeong in the morning, President-elect Yoon will immediately engage in volunteer work at a meal service.
Spokesperson Kim explained, "Although many free meal services closed due to COVID-19, the Myeongdong meal service continued volunteering during the pandemic," adding, "President-elect Yoon believes that the role of the state includes caring for socially vulnerable and marginalized groups within the nation's embrace."
Regarding the official appearance of Mrs. Kim Geon-hee, Spokesperson Kim said, "(Today's volunteer work) is understood to be done by President-elect Yoon," and added, "(Mrs. Kim) will consider making an official appearance when the Yoon administration begins."
