[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] On the 29th, the Political, Judicial, and Administrative Subcommittee of the Presidential Transition Committee received a briefing from the Prime Minister's Office and discussed directions for regulatory innovation.


The briefing was attended by officials from the Political, Judicial, and Administrative Subcommittee and the Director of National Administration from the Office for Government Policy Coordination.


The attendees evaluated the achievements and limitations of past regulatory reforms and discussed bold directions for regulatory innovation to foster new industries and enhance economic vitality amid uncertain domestic and international economic conditions.


They also discussed the national situation and risk management during the approximately 100 days before and after the new government's inauguration, effective implementation plans for the new government's national agenda, and prompt solutions to major issues including social conflicts.


The Prime Minister's Office reported to the Transition Committee on measures for implementing a scientific and systematic quarantine and medical system tailored to the characteristics of Omicron in response to COVID-19, full recovery from economic and social damages, expansion of public medical capacity, and advancement of quarantine medical systems.


Additionally, they reported on issues such as establishing the President's second office and the National Assembly building in Sejong City to complete the administrative capital, relocating additional institutions, establishing an 'Emerging Security Committee' directly under the Prime Minister, and promoting advanced country-type Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiatives.
