[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The meeting between President Moon Jae-in and President-elect Yoon Seok-youl began at 5:59 PM on the 28th.

Both sides are expected to engage in candid discussions on various agendas, including the pardon of former presidents, the relocation of the presidential office, and the supplementary budget (supplementary appropriations).

In particular, the president-elect's side stated in a morning briefing that "President-elect Yoon intends to approach with an attitude of taking unlimited responsibility for the people's livelihood above all else," adding, "Although there are many pressing livelihood issues, especially the issue of COVID-19 loss compensation promised to the public, we expect to request cooperation and support from the Blue House."

The government had previously announced its position not to submit a second supplementary budget bill to the National Assembly during President Moon's term.

Additionally, issues such as the pardon of former President Lee Myung-bak, which President-elect Yoon publicly pledged to propose for national unity, the execution of contingency funds related to the relocation of the presidential office, and personnel matters are also expected to be broadly discussed.

Presidential Chief of Staff Yoo Young-min and President-elect Chief of Staff Jang Je-won are attending the meeting.

The face-to-face meeting between President Moon and President-elect Yoon is the first in 21 months since the Anti-Corruption Policy Council held at the Blue House in June 2020. It is also the latest meeting between a president and president-elect in history, occurring 19 days after the presidential election.
