[2022 Academy] 'Dune' Sweeps Technical Awards


Denis Villeneuve's film "Dune" swept the technical awards at the 94th Academy Awards held on the 27th (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, USA. It won awards for Cinematography (Greig Fraser), Editing (Joe Walker), Production Design (Patrice Vermette), Sound (Mac Ruth), and Visual Effects (Paul Lambert). In the Cinematography category, it surpassed "Nightmare Alley," "The Power of the Dog," "The Tragedy of Macbeth," and "West Side Story." For Editing, it beat "Don't Look Up," "King Richard," "The Power of the Dog," and "Tick, Tick... Boom!" In Production Design, it received more votes than "Nightmare Alley," "The Power of the Dog," "The Tragedy of Macbeth," and "West Side Story." In the Sound category, it outperformed "Belfast," "007 No Time to Die," "The Power of the Dog," and "West Side Story." For Visual Effects, it surpassed "Free Guy," "007 No Time to Die," "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," and "Spider-Man: No Way Home." "Dune" is praised for largely satisfying readers' imaginations sparked by Frank Herbert's original novel through cutting-edge technology.
