Changwon City, Get Refunds for 'Erroneous Declarations' on Acquisition Tax for Low-Income Housing! Changwon City Hall, Gyeongnam.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct a comprehensive investigation of acquisition tax reports related to low-income housing for two months starting from the 28th and refund any 'erroneous reports.'

The city's Taxpayer Protection Officer plans to investigate 15,150 acquisition tax report cases related to low-income housing from 2017 to 2021 and proceed with refunds by the end of May.

They intend to check ▲ omission of deduction application for newly built single-family houses (excluding multi-family houses) ▲ exemption status of agricultural and special tax on transactions of low-income housing within the national housing size under the Housing Act ▲ application status for acquisition tax reduction on low-income housing ▲ application status for acquisition tax reduction for first-time homebuyers.

After the inspection, they will investigate areas where taxpayers' rights are vulnerable and request corrections such as refunds or lifting of seizures from the tax department for any wrongful dispositions.

The Taxpayer Protection Officer stated, "Even if the reduction application is omitted or erroneous in the acquisition tax report, it is difficult for taxpayers to verify," and added, "As a way to provide proactive taxpayer rights relief, we are investigating acquisition tax report data related to low-income housing."

Legal Affairs Officer Cho Seonghwan said, "Since its implementation in 2019, the Taxpayer Protection Officer has been striving to provide practical assistance from the taxpayer's perspective, including handling local tax grievances and protecting taxpayer rights," and encouraged, "If you have any local tax grievances or consultation matters, please actively utilize this service."
