[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Jung-wan] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol expressed his determination to proceed with relocating the presidential office to Yongsan, stating, "It is meaningless to say the ratio is this or that based on current opinion polls," in response to the fact that more than half of the public opposes the plan to move the Blue House office.

On the 24th, in response to related questions in front of the Presidential Transition Committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Yoon said, "I believe the people have already made a political and historical conclusion."

Yoon emphasized, "Many former presidents said during their campaigns that they would leave the Blue House, and the public supported them. There have been many previous attempts, so is there really a need for a new opinion poll? Even President Moon Jae-in mentioned the relocation twice."

Earlier, multiple opinion polls showed that more than half of respondents opposed the office relocation.

According to Realmeter's survey conducted on the 22nd with 500 adults nationwide, when asked about "President-elect Yoon's plan to move the presidential office to the Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building," 53.7% opposed (43.2% strongly opposed, 10.6% somewhat opposed), exceeding the majority. Support was at 44.6%, and 1.6% were unsure.

Another poll by Southern Post R&C, commissioned by CBS and conducted from the 22nd to 23rd using a wireless automated response system (ARS) survey of 1,000 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, also showed opposition at 53.6% (44.8% strongly opposed, 8.8% somewhat opposed) and support at 42.9% (27.2% strongly supported, 15.7% somewhat supported).
