Support of 5 Million KRW per Year for 2 Years Through Doosan Donations When Selecting Scholarship Recipients Among Beneficiaries, Near-Poverty Class, or Welfare Facility Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Scholarship Foundation and Doosan-Babo Nanum announced on the 25th that they will select scholarship recipients for the 'Youth Start Scholarship,' which supports low-income college freshmen who need focused support in the early stages of their social careers, and provide a total of 100 million KRW in scholarships.
Doosan has been donating scholarships to support vulnerable college freshmen through funds collected from Doosan employees' donations to the Seoul Scholarship Foundation. Over the past nine years since 2013, a total of 900 million KRW has been raised and scholarships have been awarded to 155 students.
□ The scholarship application is open to first-year freshmen at universities located in Seoul who graduated from high school in February and belong to low-income groups (recipients of government aid, near-poverty class) or currently reside or have resided during high school in welfare facilities (such as orphanages, shelters, group homes).
Twenty selected scholarship recipients will receive 5 million KRW each over two years and will have opportunities to participate in various programs such as mentoring with Doosan employees, volunteer activities, and meetings with seniors. The selection results will be announced at the end of May after document and interview evaluations.
