Jowon Jin: "Park Geun-hye Sent a Message That She Wants to Do Politics... Yoon's Side Seems Unaware"

Jowonjin to Yoon, who says he will meet Park: "Follow the procedure and show proper manners"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Cho Won-jin, leader of the Our Republican Party, interpreted former President Park Geun-hye's message to the nation saying she would "lend a small helping hand" as meaning "she intends to engage in politics."

Cho, considered one of Park's closest aides, appeared on KBS Radio's 'Joo Jin-woo Live' on the afternoon of the 24th and said, "The fact that former President Park has settled in Dalseong is itself a political act."

Earlier that day, former President Park delivered an approximately 8-minute voice message in front of her home in Yuga-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu. She said, "While I was president, I worked hard for the country and the people, but there were dreams I could not achieve. I believe those are now the responsibility of others. I want to lend even a small helping hand so that talented individuals can achieve the leap of my hometown Daegu and further contribute to the development of the Republic of Korea."

Regarding this, Cho said, "She mentioned Dalseong, Daegu, and the development of the Republic of Korea, and said she would 'lend a small helping hand,' which means she intends to engage in politics. It was a somewhat surprising message from the perspective of President-elect Yoon Seok-youl's side, but they did not seem to understand it well."

About the President-elect Yoon's side mentioning that they would meet with former President Park soon, Cho said, "Meeting and sharing the same intentions are somewhat different. President-elect Yoon has already faced many controversies right after his election, so pushing forward to meet in that manner is not acceptable. Proper procedures and respect should be observed," he stated.

Cho also referred to Jang Je-won, the President-elect's secretary, and Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the People Power Party, urging them to be humble. He said, "It was a presidential election lost by less than 1%. Even the camp of the winner, who had a large margin, did not behave like this. I thought these people still need more training. I ask them to be a bit more humble."

Regarding the impeachment of former President Park, Cho said, "There are those who oppose her pardon and there is our position. We believe the impeachment itself was wrong and that laws, order, and procedures were not followed. Many who support Our Republican Party and former President Park also support President-elect Yoon. Rather than uniting left and right, shouldn't we first unite our own people?"
