The Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) and Seonamhaean Leisure signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 23rd at the KPGA building in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. The plan is to develop the Samho district in Yeongam Enterprise City, Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, into a 'KPGA Golf Town' to promote the domestic golf industry and revitalize the local economy. Various collaborative projects are expected to follow, including official certification of golf courses within the Samho district, hosting KPGA tournaments, and establishing golf practice facilities.
Currently, the mammoth golf course with a total of 63 holes, including 45 holes at South Links Yeongam and 18 holes under construction, is nearing completion. Additionally, a natural grass driving range with as many as 400 bays and a golf academy will be established one after another. KPGA Chairman Gu Ja-chul expressed high expectations, saying, "We anticipate not only benefits for KPGA but also the enhancement of members' rights." Yang Deok-jun, Chairman of Seonamhaean Leisure, added his thoughts, stating, "We will develop it into a world-class luxury golf leisure town."
