[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Ahn Min-seok, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed suspicion about President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's insistence on forcibly relocating the office to Yongsan, saying, "The reason for rushing the move as if roasting beans over a lightning fire is truly a mystery."
In an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the 23rd, Rep. Ahn said, "Even Yoon's key aides (Yoon core relations) opposed the move to the Yongsan office. Someone must have told President-elect Yoon to move to Yongsan, which is a prime location for flood control. I am really curious who that someone is."
Rep. Ahn pointed out, "During the presidential election period, the military service evasion allegation called 'strabismus' was not resolved. President-elect Yoon, who has this military service evasion allegation, will carry this as a karmic burden throughout his 5-year term. Since he was exempted from military service, isn't it possible that his security awareness is weak? It is truly a mystery why he insists on relocating the Blue House office like this," he said.
When the host asked, "Rep. Kwon Seong-dong of the People Power Party denied rumors suggesting that Yoon's spouse Kim Geon-hee is behind the insistence on relocating the Yongsan office," Rep. Ahn responded, "In Kim's 'Seoul's Voice' recording, there is talk about 'We will move.' Whose voice is that? It's not Kim's voice; is it a ghost's voice?" he retorted.
Rep. Ahn continued, "Is now the time to make a fuss over relocating the Blue House? Aren't livelihood issues more urgent? It is more urgent for the current president and the president-elect to put their heads together and solve the problems of our people suffering from COVID-19 and small business owners than to focus on MB's pardon or the Blue House relocation. If they want to relocate the Blue House, shouldn't they calmly do it after the inauguration on May 10? If there is a fire now, would it be right to plan a trip instead of putting out the fire?" he sharply criticized.
Earlier, Rep. Kwon, known as a close aide to President-elect Yoon, appeared on MBN's 'Pandora' on the 21st and was asked about the office relocation. When the host asked, "There are some rumors that Kim is not pleased with the official residence being inside the Blue House and that's why they are moving to Yongsan," Rep. Kwon denied, saying, "That is fake news created and spread by the Democratic Party."
This question seems to have originated from the so-called '7-hour phone call recording' released in January, where Kim reportedly said, after hearing a fortune teller's words from Lee Myung-soo of 'Seoul's Voice,' "(The Blue House guesthouse) will be moved."
However, at the time, Yoon's camp explained, "Kim has no interest in feng shui. She only knows about the Blue House feng shui stories circulating in the public from architects she met during exhibition activities." On January 24, Lee Yang-soo, senior spokesperson for the People Power Party's election campaign headquarters, responded in a press release, "She only responded to questions from Lee, but she neither knows feng shui nor has ever seen it, and has no intention of being involved in government decision-making. This kind of distortion of facts is not just one or two instances."
