[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The office of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol on the 23rd distanced itself from the nomination of Lee Chang-yong, Director of the Asia-Pacific Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as the new Governor of the Bank of Korea by President Moon Jae-in, stating, "There was no consultation or recommendation with the Blue House."

The office of President-elect Yoon made this announcement through a spokesperson's office notice after the Blue House announced the nomination of the new Bank of Korea governor candidate that day.

Although it was initially reported that there was some communication between the Blue House and President-elect Yoon regarding candidate Lee, the office of President-elect Yoon dismissed the possibility of consultation, indicating a continuing conflict.

A representative from President-elect Yoon's office pointed out, "Saying there was consultation is just a pretext to force the appointment," adding, "Making a recommendation involves mutual consultation where the President-elect asks the other party's opinion and obtains acceptance, but no such procedure took place at all."
