[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] On the 23rd, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education signed a tripartite business agreement with the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency and local companies at the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency to foster AI talent in vocational high schools.
The purpose of the agreement is for the Office of Education and the local community to jointly make efforts to nurture talent in the rapidly developing field of artificial intelligence.
The agreement includes support for education to cultivate AI professionals for selected vocational high school students and preferential hiring of graduates from the training programs.
The main contents are ▲supporting education to strengthen AI capabilities for vocational high schools, ▲joint promotion of customized talent development programs linked to employment companies, ▲preferential hiring of vocational high school graduates when companies recruit new personnel, and ▲establishing a system to support employment for high school graduates.
Student education will be promoted through the ICT Innovation Square expansion project, jointly led by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ulsan City, the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, and the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency after the agreement.
Thirty third-year vocational high school students who wish to participate will be selected to receive 160 hours each of basic and intermediate courses for AI and Metaverse-related program developer training. Among the students who complete the education, hiring will be linked according to the personnel selection plans of the agreement companies.
The Ulsan Office of Education expects that the agreement will lay the foundation for local companies in future new industries such as AI and Metaverse to nurture local talent and create conditions for them to settle in the region.
Superintendent Noh Ok-hee said, “We expect the agreement to establish a systematic educational foundation for nurturing talent in the AI field,” adding, “Above all, it is very meaningful that related companies can participate in education and link it to hiring.”
