Gosin University Gospel Hospital Selected as Occupational Disease Safety Center by Ministry of Employment and Labor

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Kosin University Gospel Hospital has been selected by the Ministry of Employment and Labor as the operating institution for the Busan-Ulsan region's 'Occupational Disease Safety Center' project.

The 'Occupational Disease Safety Center' is the first occupational disease monitoring system in South Korea.

The institution identifies work-relatedness at each clinical department's treatment stage when patients with occupational diseases visit the hospital, enabling the rapid detection of occupational diseases. It also prevents additional harm and carries out follow-up measures such as cause investigations when necessary.

In the event of a serious disease accident, on-site investigations, sample collection, and analysis are conducted. The center also provides guidance and support measures to workplaces to prevent further damage.

For the 24 occupational diseases stipulated under the Serious Accident Punishment Act, a continuous reporting system is established. It also provides medical consultation in preparation for increased demand for disease investigations, such as deaths from cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Kosin University Gospel Hospital's 'Occupational Disease Safety Center' will serve as a hub for a network aimed at preventing industrial accidents and protecting workers' health by cooperating with local emergency medical centers, regional emergency medical centers, and clinical departments.

The Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Kosin University Hospital, which will be in charge of the center, has been performing roles as a special examination institution designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, a health management professional institution, a work environment measurement institution, and a general examination institution designated by the National Health Insurance Service.

Hospital Director Oh Kyung-seung introduced the center as "a representative center of the region through health examinations of various local industries and safety management related to work environment tasks."
