[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Gyeongsang National University Museum has been selected for the 2022 Gyeongnam Lifelong Education Promotion Project in the area of supporting the Provincial Lifelong Learning University (Museum University). This marks the second consecutive year of selection following last year.
From September to November last year, the Gyeongsang National University Museum conducted various programs for local residents, including the Museum University History and Culture Academy (The Cultural History of Korean Art and Paintings, 9 sessions), Local Cultural Heritage Exploration (Jinju Fortress, Chokseokru Pavilion, and Bibong Mountain, 5 sessions), and Lifestyle Culture Experience Lectures (Health Methods in the COVID-19 Era, 5 sessions).
Building on last year’s achievements, the Gyeongsang National University Museum plans to expand the Museum University from May to December this year.
Starting in May, the museum will invite Korea’s top architectural experts to offer lectures (8 sessions) and exploration programs (5 sessions) on Korean architecture, covering its history and identity, palace architecture, seowon (Confucian academies) architecture, and Buddhist architecture.
Additionally, various lifestyle culture programs (5 sessions) will be offered, introducing hobbies such as wine, coffee, and lifestyle luxury goods. There will also be regional cultural and artistic tours (3 sessions) that travel around cities in Gyeongnam, exploring and experiencing local art galleries, museums, cultural heritage sites, and intangible cultural assets with relevant experts in an immersive way.
Recruitment for participants will begin in April, and detailed information about the programs and application procedures will be announced through the museum’s website, social media services (SNS), and press releases.
The Gyeongsang National University Museum plans to officially prepare for the program launch after signing an agreement related to the project selection with the Gyeongsangnam-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute in early April.
