[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korean Medicine Doctors Association has urged the quarantine authorities to allow Korean medicine doctors to conduct professional-grade rapid antigen tests for COVID-19.
On the 21st, the association issued a statement saying, "We have continuously requested participation in professional rapid antigen testing at Korean medical institutions, but the quarantine authorities have been delaying their response without clear grounds or explanations."
The association demanded that the active participation of Korean medicine doctors in all COVID-19 related testing and treatment be guaranteed at the national level, and that health insurance coverage be applied to professional rapid antigen tests conducted by Korean medicine doctors.
The association stated, "It is only natural that Korean medicine doctors, as medical professionals, be involved in testing and treatment during national disasters such as COVID-19," and added, "It is unjust that the participation of Korean medicine doctors is being deliberately ignored and obstructed in 21st century Korea."
They continued, "We expect prompt action from the quarantine authorities to ensure the guaranteed participation of Korean medicine doctors in national infectious disease prevention and treatment, including COVID-19 quarantine," and added, "We will take a more active role in testing confirmed COVID-19 patients and treating them."
