Imsil-gun Accelerates Efforts to Foster Professional Farmers

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County in Jeonbuk is accelerating efforts to cultivate professional farmers to further enhance agricultural competitiveness.

According to the county on the 21st, the Agricultural Technology Center, which is in charge of agricultural education, is leading the cultivation of professional farmers by preparing various educational programs and establishing concrete plans that can be implemented.

Since the beginning of the year, the Agricultural Technology Center has been operating practical agricultural education basic classes (rice and chili pepper) and strategic crop classes (4 courses) for farmers in 12 towns and townships, as well as Agricultural University courses (2 courses) that require more than 100 hours of annual completion.

The county is taking the lead in fostering professional farmers by promoting educational courses that can further enhance the expertise of farmers every year.

Basic farming technology education (more than 10 sessions) is also being promoted for returnees to farming (within 5 years) and those who wish to return to or settle in farming.

In addition, with a total budget of 120 million KRW reflecting support projects for farming settlement and one-on-one customized mentor-mentee education with successful returnee farmers, efforts are being made to help those who want to return to farming in Imsil County establish a more stable economic foundation.

Various programs such as consulting and benchmarking are also being prepared for item-specific research groups to provide opportunities to acquire specialized agricultural technology.

In particular, support projects to obtain agricultural drone certification, which has recently gained attention, and competitiveness enhancement projects for young farmers (under 39 years old) are also being promoted.

All farmers in the county (including returnees and young farmers) who wish to participate in the various educational programs promoted by the Agricultural Technology Center can apply by filling out the application form announced on the website and visiting the Agricultural Technology Center (Rural Support Division) in person.

A county official said, “As one of the basic local governments based on agriculture, it is expected that farmers becoming wealthy will lay the foundation for the county’s continuous economic growth and development.”

He added, “To achieve this, it is necessary to secure the professionalism and competitiveness of agriculture, and receiving specialized agricultural education must come first. Since applying and practicing the learned content in agriculture is the shortcut to becoming a wealthy farmer, agricultural education is very important.”
