On the 21st, former Mayor Yeom registered as a preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Province Governor at the Gyeonggi Election Commission in the morning, then moved to the briefing room on the 3rd floor of the new Gyeonggi Provincial Council building to declare his candidacy.
In his declaration, Yeom emphasized, "I will continue the path of Lee Jae-myung, a Democratic Party governor who gets things done," and added, "I will make Gyeonggi Province not a peripheral area of Yeouido and Seoul, but the center of the Republic of Korea."
He highlighted his achievements as a three-term Suwon mayor, saying, "During my 12 years as Suwon mayor, I focused on fundamental governance and developed Suwon into a dignified city.
