BioX Develops Zero-Discharge System for Green Hydrogen Production Wastewater

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] BioX announced on the 21st that it will apply a post-treatment system for zero liquid discharge of wastewater generated after hydrogen production by applying the HAAMA system to a demonstration facility.


BioX, in collaboration with water treatment specialist TS Tech and biogas specialist KEC System, developed a zero liquid discharge system based on a technology that combines electrochemical principles, concentration and filtration processes, and drying devices.


The zero liquid discharge system is a technology that independently treats wastewater containing nitrogen and phosphorus generated after producing green hydrogen from organic waste such as food waste and livestock manure in the HAAMA system. Technology to utilize byproducts generated after pretreatment as energy is also under development.


TS Tech is a company specializing in water treatment plant design, manufacturing, construction, and equipment maintenance. It has developed an eco-friendly zero liquid discharge system by recycling factory wastewater. KEC System is engaged in biogas production using organic waste, combined heat and power generation, and natural gas production businesses. Based on its own technology, it has designed, manufactured, and constructed numerous biogas facilities domestically.


A company official introduced, "The zero liquid discharge system being developed through collaboration among the three companies is an eco-friendly process that does not discharge residual organic matter by enabling independent energy production and resource recovery."


He added, "It is a new concept technology that can be applied to facilities generating organic waste," and explained, "We will develop an All-in-One system that simultaneously applies hydrogen production and resource recovery technologies."
