‘Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center’ Construction Begins After Winning 535.4 Billion KRW Contract

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 21st that it will construct the largest neutral hyper-scale data center in South Korea in Jukjeon-dong, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The "Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center" to be built here is being constructed with an investment of 828 billion KRW attracted by Pacific Asset Management, a real estate specialized asset management company, from global pension funds such as the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) and Shinhan Financial Investment.
With a scale of 4 basement floors to 4 above-ground floors and a total floor area of 99,070㎡, it will provide tenants with a neutral network environment and connection services that are not limited to any specific telecommunications operator. Additionally, the design adjusts the spacing between columns to immediately respond to the rapid expansion of IT equipment, allowing about 1,000 racks to be placed in each data hall, and provides a high-density computing environment of over 10kW per rack.
The data center will begin construction this month and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. The construction cost is approximately 535.4 billion KRW. LG CNS will be responsible for infrastructure construction and operation.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "Based on our experience constructing various types of data centers such as the Naver Data Center, Government Integrated Computing Center, NH Integrated IT Center, and Busan Global Data Center, we have been entrusted with the construction of the 'Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center,'" adding, "We will solidify our leading position in the data center construction sector based on our accumulated technology and know-how."
